| Observing Opportunity for the INT 2.5m Optical Telescope (La Palma, Spain) | 2010/07/06 | Dear colleagues
Im inviting you to submit observing proposals for the INT 2.5m optical telescope located at La Palma.
Those interested need to fill in the standard observing proposal form and forward it to habib [at] ipm.ir by July 20th. The proposals will be reviewed at the Iranian National Observatory and if complete will be forwarded to ING time allocation committee final approval and time allocation in September. Maximum allocated time is limited to 7 nights per proposal and a total of 15 nights are available per semester (30 nights per year). At the present you can apply for observing from 1st Feb until 31st Jul 2011. Next observing opportunity will be announced in Jan 2011.
Please note that if you do not provide the required information and justifications your application will be automatically rejected. Therefore I suggest you seek advice if you are in any doubt!
In particular I would like the applicants to pay attention to data reduction and analysis provisions and that the data MUST be handled by the applicants at the home country (IRAN) within the 6 months of acquiring the data. Please pay attantion to the use of the instruments and the visibility of the targets. Two instruments WFC (imager) and IDS (spectrograph) will be available, as it stands.
Please visit http://www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy for more information on the telescope and the instruments. If the time is awarded, INO will cover the travel and observing expenses of the observer. This opportunity is for professional astronomers only and I would like to encourage the faculty and postgrad students to seize the opportunity.
Best regards
